The best sessions have the best stories!
This family photo session was scheduled to take place on a Sunday afternoon at a beloved family cabin on Kabekona Lake in LaPorte, MN to celebrate 50 years of marriage. As the date approached, the likelihood of rain increased. We moved the session to the morning, but I was pinched with time as I had a session before theirs too. I headed north, literally racing the radar map. I pulled in, (I didn’t even introduce myself!) we ran to the lake & captured as many photos as we could in the light rain. We ran back to the cabin as the rain picked up and we finished on the front porch, as it was just pouring down! They traveled from all over, we had limited options, and everything worked out beautifully.
This family was some of the kindest people I have ever photographed. They embraced the scramble, laughed through raindrops, were grateful for what WAS captured, and sent me on my way with a slice of warm banana bread.
This, my friends, is my dream career. I am ALWAYS grateful to God for families like this and circumstances that remind me who is really in charge. This session was meant to be and will stay with me for a lifetime:
