I spent last weekend with 2 of my favorite girls: my little sister, Mackenzie and darling niece, Miller Grace. The reason for my trip was mostly to do what we do best: stay up too late watching: Say Yes To The Dress, eating too much junk, complaining that we ate too much junk, playing with our baby girls and of course, sneaking in a few photos.
This trip was a tad bit different though…Mackenzie SHOCKED me when she shared the news that she had WON a makeover for me! Whaaaaaaaat?! She participated in a Facebook drawing for BB Makeup & Viva Voce Salon, nominated her big sis, and won. Throwing caution and my extreme awkwardness to the wind, I was excited for a professional makeup application and hairstyle. The artists asked if we had a big night planned and we looked at each other as if to say: “If going back to the house to entertain a 1 and 2 year old & make a mean bowl of Mac & Cheese for supper is a big night”…. Then YES, our night was going to be huge 🙂 It didn’t matter, I felt like a million bucks and it reaffirmed what I already knew: My little sister’s heart is as big as her smile. I love her to pieces and appreciate her thoughtfulness more than she’ll know. Perhaps the most thankless part of her afternoon was having to chase my Clara up and down the sidewalks of downtown Hudson while I got pampered. Really…? how did I get so blessed? Thank you Mackenzie, from the bottom of my heart! You are so LOVED by ME.
A few little instagramish type photos to document our awesome day:
Mackenzie & Aaron’s little baby, Miller Grace, turns 1 next week! Wasn’t I JUST in their dining room photographing her as a newborn? To help celebrate this momentous occasion, I plopped her in some unique storefronts in downtown Hudson. Millie is generous with her smiles and has a belly laugh unlike anything I’ve ever heard. I loved documenting the sweet love between my sister and her daughter. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, every mother needs these images with their children. Papa’s too! (and I’d love to be the one to do it!) Happy 1st Birthday Miller Grace….You light up our lives!
