Summer is finally here and Clara and I JUST put the finishing touches on our fairy garden today!!
Over the winter we attended a seminar on Fairy Garden’s at a local nursery. I was hooked! Once the weather turned warmer, I got serious about our creation and visited a few nursery’s to gather our supplies. Attempting to do this as inexpensively as possible, I decided our “house” would be the top of this old decorative planter I bought years ago:
I also wasn’t about to buy the (super cute by the way!) miniature tables & chairs from Bachman’s so we made our decor’ with twigs… Clip and snip and we’re ready to make tiny furniture:
I wanted our village to transport easily, so placing it in an “actual garden” was out of the question…the pots I had were too small to use, but soon I came upon this cool little wooden box. Perfect!
We were now ready to roll after making a few purchases…I bought a few mini plants and figurines. Our garden actually lacks a single fairy! Apparantly, Clara fancies gnomes, so we now are the proud caretakers of Fritzy & Dee. (I don’t know where she comes up with this stuff!)
Sigh….remember, I wanted to do this as inexpensively as possible? Too bad this stuff is SO. DANG. CUTE!!! Clara’s favorite book right now is: The Kissing Hand, so naturally we bought 2 Racoons: Chester, and Mother Racoon (at this point I know my brother is rolling his eyes…)
We put this together over the course of a few weeks. Clara loved helping plant at first, but soon became more interested in “playing wif my characters”
A little personalization:
And we’re done!
An outdoor dollhouse!? We’re 2 happy gardeners!
