I have had the pleasure of photographing this family many times and I love it more every time. As I was sifting through their images I had a deep and recurring sense of gratitude toward Rachael for allowing me to photograph her family just as they are. Too often, I find myself totally hung up on perfect portrait and in the process, I might fail to document life as it really is: sometimes rainy, sometime full of mainstreet distractions… sometimes tears and sometimes laughter. If this is not a real life photo session, I don’t know what is. I drove to Walker in a torrential downpour and knew we would go ahead with photos no matter what the weather. That is a testament to who Rachael is as a mom. She wanted her family photographed on vacation ~ simple as that:
